This week saw a landmark day in agricultural law, with the passing through Parliament of the Agriculture Bill. Previously dictated to by the EU, this, the first Agriculture Bill since 1947, promises to help farmers stay competitive, increase productivity, invest in new technology and seek a fairer return from the marketplace
The popular Severn Trent STEPS grant is familiar to many farmers across our region. The scheme has reopened and provides a wide range of options to farmers for infrasructure investments and land management items to improve water quality, soil health and the wider environment – find out if you are eligible to apply.
Earlier this year, the RPA extended deadlines by a month to allow farmers more time to submit their BPS applications. Following this extension, the RPA has made progress processing and preparing payments so they are ready when the payment window opens in December. It has been announced this week that farmers are set to see a slight increase in their BPS payments this year.
